#62 Lim Eun-Kyeong

31 07 2010

Born in 1983 in Seoul, South Korea, Eun-Kyeong became a very famous face in Korea as a model and face of SK Telecom.  Her parents are both deaf, and she is fluent in sign language.  Her squeaky clean image combined with a slightly ethereal and spooky appearance led to study at Korea’s most prestigious acting school, and a few roles.  She’s here because of her role as Mi-na in 2004’s The Doll Master (Inhyeongsa).  A pretty incomprehensible story involving reincarnation, ghosts, Asian ball jointed dolls, and an odd set of potential victims gathering at a remote museum, it’s not a great movie but pretty and suitably creepy, particularly Lim’s character.  Korean ball jointed doll makers Custom House released a Mi-na tie-in doll sculpted in her likeness the year of the film’s release.
