Sarah Michelle Gellar (Prinze) is probably recognized by anyone with an interest in this series. Born in New York City in 1977, and graduated from Fiorello LaGuardia High School of the Performing Arts, while working in television and movies and modeling. In 1995 she originated the role of Kendall Hart on All My Children, and was awarded a Daytime Emmy. She also met Michelle Trachtenberg, who would costar with her in the show that would make her an international icon.
In 1997 Sarah landed the title role of Buffy The Vampire Slayer in the Joss Whedon television series, after multiple screen tests. The series lasted seven seasons (ending in part because Gellar wanted a rest) and far surpassed the original movie starring Kristy Swanson. Sarah racked up several scream credits, including Scream 2, The Grudge, The Return, I Know What You Did Last Summer, Grudge 2, and Possession. She is married to Freddie Prinze, Jr., and they have a daughter, Charlotte. Of the genre, Sarah says.”Horror films are where women can shine and have a chance to lead. They always save the day in these films.”
